Health Care Access by State

The Health Care Access Ranking for states incorporates measures of physician density (primary care and specialty care), dentist density, the percent of residents covered by health insurance, the percent of mental health care providers met, and the number of staffed hospital beds per capita. Higher rankings (darker colored states) indicate a lesser access to health care within the region.
